Post-it Love (Short-Film Review)

Post-it Love

This short-film is about two co-workers who work in a office building and while photocopying papers they fall in love. Throughout posts they tell each other "I like you". However their posts have the shape of beautiful draws instead of the use of words.

Camera Work

Mostly during the entire film the camera angle was EYE LEVEL; the relationship between the characters and what they were looking at was located at their eyes level. However in the begining there is this shot called ANGLE DOWN because the camera is located above the characters and moves from right to left in order to show the similarity of their jobs.

Another camera movement that is truly interesting is the DOLLLYING OUT. She walks back to her office and suddenly stops, but the camera keeps moving back creating a nice shot.

There is also use of normal lens, the majority of the shots are comparable with the person's eye view. In addition to this, the type of shots are LS, MCP, MS, CU and ECU. But clearly the director decided for MS to dominant the film and establish only one ECU which was the most important throughout this short film. This shot was focus on the woman's eyes and was the climax of the story because it made her feeling palpable to the point where the audience sort of share their feeling with the character.

Lighting

As for lighting there is the classic THREE-POINT LIGHTING: the key light is focus on him, the fill light is located on the sides eliminating any shadows and the back-light highlighting his contour.

The  HIGH KEY LIGHT in this shot implies the attention towards the draw and not the person, it drags the audience to focuses on such draw. Also the characters stays in the shadow as the everything that is around her.

 Editing

There is not so much cutting in this short-film, therefore the cutting does not manipulates the story, but  it makes clear the meaning of the characters' action. In addition editor uses cutting for continuity more than anything else. With that been established, there is a lot use of MOVEMENT MATCH, for example in the scene where he see the folder and than opens it there is a cut, but the audience doesn't notice it because they're focus on the characters' action instead of the cutting action.   

There is also ACTION/REACTION SHOT, in this shot when she sees the two faces in  the wall (action) and then there is a cut to her face (reaction)

Finally RHYTHMIC MATCH is crucial in this film. During the entire film everything has a slow pace because of the music, whatever the characters do it goes with the music. Also this pace highlights dictates the story and helps the audience to comprehended.

Sound

The fact that there is no duologue nor narration it allows music to lead the film. From beginning to end, the film has sound and there is no use of silence. However, there is also ON-SCREEN SOUND, meaning that every actions that produces sound in a real situation is included in here. 

Film Style

Overall this short-film is classified as romantic drama and throughout this film analysis it perfectly shows all the great and important work that people behind cameras did in order to obtain this result.
